Sir:
Does your program contain it's own personal speed formula or does it use beyer or something else? Is track variant taken into consideration?
Thanks
It contains a Z-Factor(Velocity calc in Projected feet per second). It uses the last four pacelines for Early and Late speed. It also uses turn time average position, which is the average position in the last four races from the first call to the head of the stretch. Beyer(Advanced Speed Figure) is applied as a separate factor. Track variant is not taken into consideration.
Dear Sir:
We have a few questions about your program that we would like to know before we buy it as there are a lot of different programs that deliver nothing after we put a lot of work and time to come up with nothing but torn up tickets. We would appreciate your answers as soon as possible, so we can buy your program if it fPost Time Daily our needs.
(1) Will this program use Post Time Daily numbers?
Yes, only Post Time Daily comma delimited files. It imports the data files into an relational MS Access mdb.
(2) Recency of early and late speed, how far back does the program go, or can we set it for how far we want to go back?
Early and Late speed are both based upon the last four races or factored thereof.
(3) Do you show variance or is it calculated in the program?
Track variance is not calculated.
(4) What does velocity mean and what does it do in the program?
Projected feet per second. I have found a couple of longshots that have won at the bottom, with no figures except for this one. I lost money on that ticket.
(5) How does it rate class, does it show if a horse is going up, down, or the same class ?
Purse value and a race type factor is applied
(6) What is the difference in the turn time or early speed ?
Early speed is based upon first and second calls. Turn time is the avg position from the first call to the head of the stretch.
(7) What does form mean in the program?
Closer - Loser Difference of Early and Late speed.
(8) How far back does the program go for recency in races or workouts, also can we set the days on how far we would want to see ?
Points and percentages are applied for recent workouts and recency, based upon the Advanced settings. Both factors are either true or false.
(9) How many races does the program go back to get the beyer distance ?
I try to use the last three, if the data is there.
(10) Will the consensus help in picking the key horse or in exactas and trifectas ?
That's what it was designed for.
Top 3-4 EX
Top 4-5 TRI
(11) If a horse scratches would it change any of the numbers in the program ?
No
(12) Does the program average a race by the number of horses in a race, or are these numbers the true ability of the horse ?
This scores the entries based upon paceline calculations, then is flexible enough to apply points to the factors through the settings to calculate the consensus. Most are logrithmic.
(13) What is the lowest point settings, if the highest points is 100, also can we set our own point settings ?
You determine the point settings in the advanced settings. The ranges for the factors vary dependant on how I am calculating the consensus. Most are 50 points max.
(14) How many people are successfully using this program ?
I have sold 8 copies, with no complaints. The co-developers on this project are using it. I use it when I get a chance.
(15) We want to know if everything is clarified in either the help screen or the manual to where we don't have to email you for some kind of answer. Do you have a phone # and a time to get in touch with you in the event if needed?
I cannot give you all of the logic involved in the program. I will try to answer any question you may have. In the event of an installation problem, I can call you if you mail your number.
We were using Handiman program without any consistency which put us in a negative position to trust the printouts on his selections as every race was different according to HIS caculations. How do you put your program in comparison to Handiman with coming up with better results on a consistency basis, we know this might be a difficult question but at least with all the races that you have handicapped with your program to where you have a good idea of concept of the results of your program.
I will say without a doubt, I have looked at all of the other programs out there and found none to compare with the flexiblity of being able to control the points applied to each factor to figure the consensus. All of these programs take alot of time and thought to develop and test, I personally respect all of the other programs Post Time Daily has available and believe that all of them do work, but some better than others. The continous improvement process is important. If someone is continually trying to improve their system it is bound to produce better and better results. I can make no claims concerning how good this system will perform for you, but I can tell you what I have seen with the default settings applied with 100% on all factors. On average, I would say it picks 2 to 4 winners on top. 2 to 4 Exactas in the top three picks. 2 to 3 Tris in the top 4. Money management and wagering are the hardest factors, and you know as well as I do, the horses can't read.

Hello ERS staff,
I just purchased the ERS program and really like the looks of it alot. The ability to adjust the various factors and create profiles is great and at such a reasonable price. Thanks for a great program.
(1) How do I scratch a horse after a race is loaded into the program?
I was just marking them out with a pen.
(2) Are Early Speed and Late Speed the only factors where the lower number is best?
Form is the difference between Early and Late and the lower the form means a closer.
(3) What is the difference between Early Speed and Pace?
Pace numbers are derived from drf's supplied data and Early Speed is a derivative of first and second call positions for the last four pacelines.
(4) What does Velocity measure, is it the total velocity of the race or a certain segment?
Velocity is projected feet per second with bias applied for sprints and routes.
(5) What does RWO stand for and the True or False readings mean?
True is equal to a recent workout based upon the number of days specified in the advanced settings.
(6) Has there been any interest by users of the program to share information about various tracks and what settings are producing the best results---I would be very interested in participating in such an information exchange. I think that is a great idea. I have discussed developing another product for this, to do comparative analysis. In the meantime, keep your old reports and results for your own comparisons. I have noticed that at different tracks, different days, certain factors are more important than others. Sometime the class horses are coming in, other times the speed horses are coming in.
Hope to hear from you soon and thanks again for a fantastic and very reasonable program. For the $2 and $5 bettor, it's a great learning tool at a price that is more than fair.
Best of luck to you

(1) How do we get into advanced settings ?
From the Options menu at the top of the main background screen.
(2) In setting the parameters What do we put in for the track model ?
Just a one word description for the type of race, type of track, or combination of the two, but not really even limited to that. It could be anything. Using this feature is optional. It will just store the percentage values you applied and let you give a meaningful one word reference, and a more detailed 255 character description. After saving this, you can go back and reuse these settings by choosing Parameters from the Factors form and then selecting the track model you wish to use. You can also delete or clean up these saved setting if you wsh. There has been no standard established on how to use these, that is up to you.
(3) What does the minus signs mean in the form, are we suppose to look for the higher or lower numbers with or without the minus ?
- means a bigger closer
For example, a -12 is a much better closer than a -2 but both are closers. They both come on harder in the second half of the race than they do in the first half.
(4) In the early or late speed could you please tell us if it is better for the higher or lower numbers ?
Lower numbers are better for both, but always look for first time starters, and incomplete data.
(5) In the RWO what does the also and rue mean and how do we rate them ?
Indicates a recent workout in the last X days. X is in advanced settings.
(6) In the class how are you rating, are you going with the purse or claiming, maiden value ?
I am using purse and trying to apply race type with it.
(7) In the turn time and velocity again are we looking at the higher or lower numbers ?
On the report, TTavgpos, is the horses average position of his pacelines at the head of the stretch, the lower the better. Projected feet per second is higher the better. I try to use workouts to calculate if horse is a first time starter. |
